This coming Sunday is week 5 in our Narrative Lectionary worship series.  I am really enjoying this journey through the Bible.  This week we’re looking at Deuteronomy 5 & 6; the call to worship I wrote reflects a bit of the story so far.

Call to Worship

Leader: We gather to worship God:
Side 1: The God of Eve and Adam, who spoke and hammered the world into being;
Side 2: The God of Abraham and Sarah, who fulfilled an improbable promise;
Side 1: The God of Rachel, Leah, Jacob and their children, who remained faithful despite deceit and disobedience;
Side 2: The God of the Exodus, who took pity on a suffering people and led them to freedom.
Leader: We gather to worship God:
All: The God of each of us, of all of us.
Leader: Open your ears and hear, O people of God.
All: Let us hear the word of our God for us. Amen.
