I have received my author copies of Expecting Emmanuel and the book officially launches tomorrow (September 6, 2022)! Those of you who have pre-ordered should receive your books soon, and hopefully you will be able to find the book in your local bookstore well before Advent begins.
Launch Party, Party, Party
I want to extend a final invitation to the Zoom launch party which will be at 7 p.m. central time tomorrow (9/6/22) at this Zoom link. You’ll hear a little bit from me and from Michelle Burkholder, who provided artwork for the book. A couple of pastors will share how they plan to use the book in their congregations. Plus, you’ll have a chance to win a signed copy of the book!
Digital Image and Blessing Files Available
Those of you who plan to use this book with your congregation (and/or who simply fall in love with Michelle’s beautiful art) can access digital files of the art pieces and accompanying blessings on the Herald Press web site. The $9.99 purchase price includes permission to use the art and printed blessings in “personal and ministry settings.” Think church bulletins and newsletters, projected or printed (in-person or on Zoom) visio divina practices, even Christmas cards!
Honestly, these image/blessing pairs are my favorite part of the book. I am so grateful that the patient people at Herald Press were willing to do all of the extra work it has taken to incorporate art into the book and make this digital resource possible.
Zoom Group for Leaders
During Advent, I will offer a Zoom discussion and prayer group that follows along with the suggested worship resources in Expecting Emmanuel. It will be Mondays at 11 a.m. central time on November 21 and 28, December 5, 12, and 19. Participation is free for all congregational/group leaders who are using the book this Advent season. Simply contact me if you’d like to sign up and receive the Zoom link.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You
I have received so much support from so many of you over the years. I love sharing my writing through this blog and will continue to post worship material and random thoughts here. I have also loved the experience of writing about the women of Jesus’ genealogy and working with an artist and publisher to bring what I believe is a beautiful and faithful book into the world. It is an honor and a joy to be connected to each of you on this journey of faith.
