Narrative Lectionary (Year 4) Catch-Up

I haven’t posted much since we started this year’s Narrative Lectionary cycle several weeks ago. So below is a call to worship I wrote for this week, and links to several sermons.

Call to Worship for 1 Kings 5:1-5, 8:1-13 (with John 4: 21-24)

We are not on the mountain or in Jerusalem.
We are not in the Temple or a cathedral.
We are in our ordinary space
Gathered with ordinary people
To worship our extraordinary God.
We have no gilded cherubim,
No ancient holy vessels,
And yet we are sheltered by the Divine wings,
Connected to our sacred past,
Even here, even now.
Let us give thanks for this place.
Let us worship God in spirit and truth.
