Wednesday Worship Piece–Thanksgiving Edition

I’m posting the Wednesday Worship Piece on Tuesday this week, because I know all of you pastors out there are getting your worship planning done early . . .

Well, maybe not. But I do hope you are able to enjoy time with family and friends this Thanksgiving!

Our theme this coming Sunday is gratitude and our call to worship goes along with the opening reading: Psalm 126.

Though we could be resentful,
we come to give thanks.
Though we could be complaining,
we come to offer appreciation.
Though we could be upset about what we lack,
we come in gratitude for what we have.
We enter now into this time of worship
carrying seed to sow, singing songs of joy,
rejoicing together.

We will also pray Walter Brueggemann’s “The gratitude we intend” from his book Awed to Heaven, Rooted in Earth.
