Over the past several weeks, we’ve been looking at Anabaptist history and distinctives during worship services at Peace Mennonite. This week and next, we will talk about the idea of simplicity. I don’t have my sermon done yet, but I am looking at simplicity from a theological perspective–“Seek first God’s Kingdom and God’s righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33) I’m thinking about how a focus of spirit can lead us to a more simple, and more joyful, life on many levels.
So here’s the Call to Worship:
Holy God,
As we gather this morning, we are distracted.
Grant us focus.
We are worried.
Grant us peace.
Our lives are cluttered.
Grant us space.
Our minds are racing.
Slow us down.
Our hands are clinging to so many things.
Loosen our grasp.
May we release the many things of this world
as we seek the one thing–
Your eternal kingdom. Amen.
one of the very best Calls To Worship I have seen in my 59 years! Thank you for sharing.
