Worship Words for Advent 3

I love the Magnificat!

Call to Worship from Luke 1:46-55

Our worship is a song of praise:
Our souls magnify the Holy One!
Our worship is a song of joy:
Our spirits rejoice in God our savior!
Our worship is a song of thanksgiving:
The Mighty One has done great things for us.
Our worship is a song of the ages:
God’s mercy is for those who fear God from generation to generation.
Our worship is a song of justice:
God has brought down the powerful from their thrones, and lifted up the lowly.
Our worship is a song of hope:
God has filled the hungry with good things.
Let our worship and our lives be a holy song to God.

Candle-Lighting Liturgy from Luke 1:46-55

For the lowly and the hungry, the grieving and the suffering,
We light this candle of joy.
Because of the mighty acts of God,
Our souls magnify the Holy one.
Because of the new life we know is growing within us and around us,
Our spirits rejoice in God our savior.
Let us sing to God a mighty song of praise:
Holy is God’s name.
Remembering the promise God made to our ancestors,
We light this candle of joy.

Benediction from 1 Thessalonians 5:16-24

In the blessed week ahead:
May you rejoice always.
Let every breath be prayer.
Welcome the Spirit.
Listen to the prophets.
Hold fast to all that is good.
May you know that you are held–spirit, soul, and body–
In the deepest peace of God.
